Installing XP in The Toshiba Satellite L45-S7423
Short description about Toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 laptop, this notebook based on 1.46GHz of Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2310 with Intel Chipset GM965, Intel 82801 SATA AHCI Controller, ICH8M Ultra ATA Storage Controller, RICOH Memory Stick Controller.
You have to detect your Chipset first:
a. Go To This Intel Chipset here
b. When your chipset is Intel GM965 go to this download page here, You may also slipstream this sata drivers into Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD read for further information here
c.Install 32-bit Floppy configuration Utility for Intel Storage manager download here
d. generate floppy disk using f6flpy32.exe
e. Boot it Using Windows XP SP2 and floppy above. After booting your system press F6 when there is an option in the bottom of your screen. wait for a while and press S or Enter. Please make it sure that you’ve choose 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCi and press it again.
f. Install Your Microsoft Windows XP
g. Install this important driver:
- Intel GM965 XP Drivers here
- Install Intel Matrix Storage Manager here
- Install Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver here
- Install Intel HDMI from realtek here
- Install RICOH driver here
- Get Realtek Wireless Driver here
You have to change INF files in the lines 20 and you have to change: 8187&REV_0200 to 8197&REV_0200. And Update it through Device Manager
-Download Toshiba Software Modem here, this driver also need update it through Device Manager too.

Thank you so much for this article! Toshiba doesnt hold drivers for the L45-s7423 on it’s website anymore, and I couldnt find them anywhere… So frustrating. Until Google brought this sweet article.
All I needed, the tips to change the wireless driver’s model did the trick and the links to the rest of the drivers led me in the right direction.
