Overclocking NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT/9800GT
Overclock GeForce 9600GT to 9800GT / 8800 sounds great. The question was how significant of the overclock effect pumping the PC performance. Someone who have GIGABYTE GA-G965GM-DS2 (Rev. 2.0) motherboard with geforce ASUS EN9600GT/HTDI/512M (memory 900/core 650/shader 1625/bandwidth 57.6 GBps) wants to overclock his laptop going to be 9800GT which has memory 1000/core 720/shader 1800/bandwidth 64 GBps. For this project he’s prepared with Intel Pentium d 3.0 GHz, 2 Gb DDR2 667 RAM and 450w PSU. Seem like it work well but how about the stability, is it has the save temperature?
If you have the same works to overclock GeForce 9600GT to 9800GT / 8800, make sure to monitor the temperatures carefully. You can use RivaTuner for the save overclocking and could be better if your ASUS supply their own utility for it. Increase the step of overclock settings gradually is the one important thing also. One more thing, you need to try running 3D Mark graphics tests if it plays graphics demanding games. Use it in about 10 loops and see if the computer is stable. Whenever the computer looks stable for a few times you can then increasing one level up.
