I need to install XP Pro on a Dell Studio 1535.
I spent the last 4 days trying to install Windows XP on my Dell Studio 1535 machine. But when I tried to install it, I have a blue screen during the installation and the error code 0×000007b occurs.
For me, it’s begin to be a big problem because I’m a student and the technician of the department don’t want to connect me to the main domain since I don’t have Windows XP on my computer… grrr…
So, I read a lot of posts and I didn’t find a solution yet for my problem! I hope here, I’ll find one!!!
This is a main description of my harware:
IDE : Intel(R) 82801 HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller
PROCESSOR: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5850 @2.16GHz
Memory(RAM): 3.00 GB
System-type: 32-bit Operating System
Installed Operating System:
Windows Vista Home Premium edition ( SP1).
Questions:
1. How can I install Windows XP on VISTA?
2. Also, I did a partition on my workstation to run XP in a Dual Boot with Vista… Do I need to change something in my BIOS to run the installation of XP properly? In the BIOS, I have in the Onboard Devices section, SATA Operation. Actually the configuration is AHCI. Should I change it for ATA? Any others changes requested?
Can you give help me please??? Any help will be appreciate!!!!
October 15th, 2008 10:51

can someone help me to make my wi fi work i have dell studio 1735 or help me to find drivers for windows xp i instal driver R181050 nothing’s happened. i think my wi fi is dead
October 20th, 2008 08:49
Hi Maudet,
Your hard disk mode is probably set as SATA. You will have to change it to ATA in the BIOS. Once you do that, you should not get that blue screen. Hope this helps.

the drivers in http://dellstudio.jeroenzelle.nl work well for me, exept for fingerprint wireless and audio device on high definition audio bus, but for the rest of devices it works well, my lap is a dell studio 1735 with no amd devices, all of them are intel, the sound driver is the idt pc audio, for video i downloaded from intel page, the 945/965 family for movile. Now i’m looking for wireless device, it supposed to be a dell wireless 1510, i’m going to look in the dell page for older models…
October 23rd, 2008 15:59
@maudet:
Windows XP, even SP3, doesn’t include Studio 15 SATA Drivers. You have to interagte them to your boot-cd with nlite. Worked fine for me.
Video Drivers:
Just download the latest Radeon Desktop Drivers und use Mobility Modder to install them on your Studio15. http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php

October 29th, 2008 13:59
Here is how I got the Wireless Driver working. The problem seems to be with laptops that have the Broadcom 802.11n card.
You get the driver directly from the HP site.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=ob-60549-1&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=447687
Run sp39243.exe and wait until it’s finished.
It will unzip files to a new folder on your HDD such as C:\SWsetup .
DO NOT run any .exe it provides.
Now go to the Device Manager. If there is an Unknown Network device, remove it.
Then, goto Control Panel -> Add New Device.
Add a Network adapter.
Tell it you want to install the driver from disk and point to the folder where the .inf file was unzipped.
Make sure you choose the Broadcom 802.11n driver.
The upcoming warningdialog can be nexted with “yes”.
I got these directions and modified them a little to match what I had to do to get it to work. It’s a pain, b/c you HAVE TO INSTALL IT MANUALLY. YOU CANNOT USE ANY WIZARD TO DO IT.

integrate intel SATA Driver and SP3 with nLite into the XP disc.
First put the Chipset, SATA, NIC and wifi drivers onto a usb-stick oder cd-r, anything you can acces from a driverless notebook.
Exept one driver (markt with an *) everything is freely accesible in the net.
1. Intel Chipsatz INF update on intel.com
2. Intel Matrix Storage Manager on intel.com
3. NIC driver on dell.com: OptiPlex 360 (even the Diagnostics Utility is working) or direct on http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netlink.php (if the OptiPlex drivers are too old)
4. wifi driver on dell.com: Latitude E6400
5. video – Original ATI/AMD driver, using http://driverheaven.net/modtool.php
(.net Framework and msxml6 is required)
*6. IDT Audio: install Pidt001.exe from http://dellstudio.jeroenzelle.nl/IDT%20PC%20Audio/ or the link shown above in the article
7. HDMI Audio driver on http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ (choose HD Audio Codec Driver or google for HDMI-R203.exe).
8. Cardreader driver on dell.com: Latitude E6400
9. Webcam driver on dell.com: Latitude E6400
10. IR-Receiver on dell.com: Studio 15/17 (Vista-driver should install in xp, unclear if it’s working.)
11. Touchpad driver on dell.com: Vostro 1310
12. Bluetooth Driver on dell.com: Latitude E6400
13. Fingerprintreader on dell.com: Studio 15/17 (Vista-driver should install in xp, unclear if it’s working.)
I tested everything and everything is working with xpsp3 – except the microphones. I couldn’t test the fingerprint reader and the ir-receiver either, because my Studio doesn’t have a reader and i have no remote.
A more recent wlan driver can be found here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?s=44f04e4b89b378c4e6f5538b6c5c66a0&showtopic=14644

November 5th, 2008 15:14
Hello
For everybody who have problems with sound card here is solution:
http://www.driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/DriverPack.php?pag=sa
All U need is integreat this driver pack with your windows (how to do it, look on the page). Then after complet instalation of windows instal sound driver and it works
For the lazy one try to find Win MX 6 or later, moust of drivers are integrated with windows. You still need to instal your drivers but then windows dont have problems with recognize the hardwere like it was plain.

hey cardalf,
Im having the same problem as maudet, but I have vista installed

November 28th, 2008 02:10
to fix error code 0×000007b:
You need to download the SATA-Drivers from intel.com
To integrate it with nlite into the xp-cd you need to choose the f6 disc package (no support on this, check the nlinte forum)
or just disable ahci in the bios.
New Audio Drivers, Mics should be working:
rapidshare.com/files/166695417/DellStudioAudiXP.ZIP
November 28th, 2008 02:13
Oh, and if you want wo watch BRD Movies, you need signed drivers. Use Lenovo Thinkpad T500 drivers, install via device manager –> update drivers, let me choose –> have disk… (or something like that, my windows isn’t an english one)

Hi.I have DELL studio 15[1537].Is anybody successful to install all drivers for XP.
Please help me……………………
December 24th, 2008 02:23
All,
You will find details to download a ready built ISO with SATA drivers, Video Drivers & Ethernet Drivers upon our website, at http://www.tcom.com.au/dell/studio_1535/
Just burn the ISO and build! I recommend to keep 10GB unpartitioned for later installation of the Dell Recovery Partition.
December 25th, 2008 02:55
Hi, now that I have the computer running fine, all except the audio quality.
Has anyone been successful in getting the HD audio to work on the line out? The audio from the PIDT001.EXE drivers is really flat and very noticable when you plug in a headset or external speakers. Maybe it could be possible to get the Vista x32 driver to run, not sure…
Thoughts anyone?
December 25th, 2008 13:34

please build a package of win xp driver ( tested ) for dell studio 1535
December 29th, 2008 12:44
Hi vamsi,
most of the drivers posted above by carfal can be used for the 1537. I think the only drivers that are different are the WIFI ones. You can download them directly from Intel (wifilink).
Only thing I didnt get working yet is the firewire controller (solution anyone?)
January 7th, 2009 01:04

January 8th, 2009 19:13
hello, where can I find functionally fingerprint driver and sopftware?
January 26th, 2009 01:56
Working on downgrading/upgrading from Vista to XP on a 1537. Wifi was easy, sound was easy (not sure on internal mic yet), I’ve pretty much got it all except 1 unknown device and the fingerprint scanner. I’ve found multiple drivers for some of the devices on this laptop, from multiple sources, I’m going to try to figure out the newest driver and/or the most optimal driver for said hardware. I’m thinking of constructing a howto page on my site or maybe a wiki somewhere that will include the best/latest 1537 drivers and any possible issues. I owe a lot of credit to multiple sources and people who’ve put together ‘driver packs’ for the 1537. I’m working on the fingerprint thing and the 1 unknown device. I do see the ! for the Firewire network adapter, but I think regular firewire transfers and connectivity should still work, just not as a network. Haven’t verified.

How did you get the 1394 firewire and the other Unknown Device working? BTW – I used the IDT codec and the ATI HDMI Adio drivers to resolve audio. Here’s the link to get them:

February 4th, 2009 04:18
Hello all,
I have finally figured out that last elusive driver that would not install using a combo of all the drivers on this website. My last driver for my Dell Studio 1535 with XP was the “High Definition Audio Device” that turned out to be the HDMI driver.
You can download the driver from Dell’s website – it is a video driver that also holds the valid HDMI driver.
http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R160795&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=215340
So after downloading this file ‘GM965 Express Chipset Family’, launch to unzip but don’t install. Then point the unknown driver to the default location: C:\DELL\drivers\R160795 and it will automatically install just the HDMI.
The sound drivers are still pretty “flat” using XP, but everything else is working correctly in the XP environment.
Enjoy!

I have reformatted many computers for users who wanted XP on their machine rather than Vista (because it sucks and should have never been released) and every single time the hardest step is finding all of the drivers. This machine however, the Dell Studio 1537 Laptop, proved to be the hardest computer I have ever tried looking for drivers for. I spent nearly a week on random sites and tech forums, hours on the phone yelling at dell for being retarded and not providing ANY xp drivers, and even more time testing each one (and having some install incorrectly and force me to reformat). In the end, somehow I managed to get every single driver working on this machine for Windows XP Professional 32bit with SP3 (this should also work on SP1 and SP2).
I decided I should share the wealth and save all of you dedicated XP users out there some time and frustration. I compiled all of these drivers into an executable file that will automatically install all them onto your machine in one click. I also am including the set of drivers in a folder as well (in case you rather not use the .exe or have to go in the device manager and locate the .inf files manually). In addition to the .exe file and the folder, I have provided the audio driver (which i found on a site written completely in Chinese) and blue tooth driver separately which only worked for me by installing it that way [When i got the audio to work there was still a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager for Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus so I just right clicked it and disabled it to stop the "Found New Hardware" at startup notifications.; the important thing is that it works!]. I hope my help is appreciated.
Please email me to receive the .zip file, I would have uploaded it on this site but its not allowing me to (maybe its too large?):

Also, feel free to email me with any related questions, comments, or concerns. P.S. NO SPAM!!! Please… I already get enough.

Okay – I got all the drivers except 1394 Net Adapter which has a yellow ! against it & an Unknown Device working on my Studio 1537 with XP. My major concern at the moment is the media control buttons, none of them work! any ideas of a compatible quickset s/w?? i tried installing a 1525’s quickset tool but it threw an error. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Soundcard drivers from Dell Inspiron 1545 (XP) work like a charm on Studio 1537. Mic works, only thing: you have to activate microphone boost (Mirosoft Panel).
Any tips for last issues remaining?: Firewire and unknown device (should be the media direct button on the left. Dell Quickset driver for XP should fix this issue, but i didn’t found one working with Studio notebooks)

Attention!
Problem with build-in microphone on 1535 @ Windows XP is solved!!!
Install this audio driver: http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R203425&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=287681

Mic is work very well, but the quality of audio output signal is poor (it’s general problem with WinXP audio driver, not with hardware)

Hi!
I finally found a solution to fix the “tinny sound”/”no bass” issue with the old sounddrivers floating around!
This is the XP driver for the studio series laptops posted here and on several other sites updated with the binaries from the driver released by dell on March 03, 2009 (filename: IDT_92HDxxx-HD-Audio_A06_R213367.exe):

May 2nd, 2009 07:57
re: 203425 mic driver for Studio 1537 with Win XP SP3
Downloaded and tried to install. Doesn’t work as these are Vista drivers and it says that they are not “compatible with my system”.
Please be specific in your descriptions so that we less technically gifted people can understand what you are saying. If I hadn’t found these posts, I would never have attempted this on my own, so thanks & congrats on some great work!!
Has anyone tackled Dell on the awful speakers (& placement) they selected for this machine (which they bill as a multimedia laptop!?!) or for the stupidity of specifying a slot load DVD? There’s no emergency release button, so the tech has to come out EVERY time a cd/dvd gets stuck in there. What were they thinking??

Hi
Its making me mad. Because recently I bought a DELL studio laptop which is already had been installed WINDOWS VISTA. Now I would like to uninstall the windows vista os and like to install WINDOWS XP. But my DELL evil is not allowing me to do that. After inserting XP CD and started booting it goes fine upto 2 or 3 steps and after that throws the blue screen with the message.
How i will have to do this activity and is there any procedure step by step.
Thanks.
