How To Recover BIOS into HP Pavilion DV4, CQ40 and C700
BIOS recover is useful to bring up BIOS whenever BIOS system is
failed. Depend on what your BIOS model is the recovery method should
work well on DV4T, C700, and also HP Compaq CQ40. If you do this recovery for
C700 use the file name IBL80HW.FD. As the HP provides many different
BIOS you need to find the correct BIOS file to get the right one
(example: BIOS for CQ45-107AU is not the same as CQ45-107TX).
Here are the following methods to recover BIOS on a CQ45-107TX
running the InsydeH2O EFI BIOS using a USB thumb drive:
- Used the Insyde BIOS version F.04 file 30F7F04.FD
- Rename file 30F7F04.FD to 30F7.BIN and place it on a USB thumb drive
- Disconnect the AC adapter from the notebook.
- Remove the battery from the notebook.
- Insert USB thumb drive into one of the USB ports on the notebook.
- Hold down ‘Windows’ Key and the ‘B’ key.
- Connect the AC adapter.
- Press the ‘Power’ button on the notebook.
Here you see the HP notebook system starting search the USB thumb
drive files to load. When you heard beeps every 2 seconds, it’s
indicating the notebook started flashing. HP notebook will shutdown
automatically once the flashing BIOS finished. Now you should see the
BIOS is works properly.
Don’t worry, if the file was not found when the system is searching,
the HP notebook would reset itself and you can try again.

GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!
I followed your procedure with a HP Pavillon DV7 using 30FCF49.FD bios file from HP renamed in 30FC.BIN
I worked ! My friend downgraded the BIOS of his machine to F03 and just got a black screen when booting. He thought his machine was dead.
Thanks to your post, I was able to recover the BIOS to the latest version and the screen came back working ! wonderful !
Thanks

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don’t have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
B. By Using Software:
I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

I did not use any usb thumbdrives to create a crisis disk for my Compaq Presario C774TU because the machine was not reading any data from it though the thumbdrive’s LED was blinking intermittently. I used an external USB Floppy Diskette Drive and renamed the original BIOS file 30d9f34.fd to IBL80HW.FD and followed your procedure. After 5 minutes, the machine just shutdown by itself. I replaced the battery pack, plug the AC adapter and turn on the power. My lappy comes back to life!!!
