HP dv6700 with Vista was getting crash could be reasoned by a lot of problems. Sometimes the laptop gets hang only when it user run the computer in a normal mode. Boot the laptop in the safe mode
Press start +r keys
In the box appear type in “msconfig”
Go to the services tab
Select the applications you need to start up
Hit apply

Now you can restart HP dv6700 machine to the normal mode and run Vista as usual.
