Fixing Linksys Router WRT54gs on Dell Notebook
Running Windows XP on a Dell laptop with Linksys router WRT54gs as the
network connection, all have well done, but it’s only with the cable
attached. If using wireless the user is unable getting access on the
internet with WEP security although his get a strong signal. The Dell
can get the wireless work back after make disable it security.
With assumption the Linksys router you have is new, to fix the trouble
with Linksys router WRT54gs on Dell laptop firstly you need connecting
this device to the system via Ethernet cable and then go to internet
explorer. If you’re done, here are the following steps:
- There on the address bar you need to type 192.168.1.1 and go.
- When the password appear just leave the user blank and type admin in
the password.
- Now the linksys setup page should open.
- Click on the Wireless Tab
- On the basic wireless settings change the default SSID NAME to other name.
- Click on reset security
- Click on save settings and reload the page
- Go to wireless security tab and select WEP in the security tab.
- Type 10 character password you’ve made in the key 1 field directly
- Click on save setting
Now each time your Dell laptop is connect to the network you will have
to enter your 10 char password. And all should have work properly.
