Fixing HDMI Sound Problem on Inspiron 1525 Part 2
About the problem of no sound through HDMI for Inspiron 1525, Dell said that even though the hardware has what it takes, but actually the the inspiron 1525 designed was for video only. That’s no wonder most users facing up the sound problem while using HDMI cable although the picture out is great. The Intel chipset offers also audio but Dell had no intention of supporting it.
As there are not too many laptops with HDMI support, thus not too many people try to get it working. There isn’t much work trying to fix a problem of no sound via HDMI they are not aware. That’s the case with Dell, so probably is with Intel. However if your Inspiron 1525 had no sound out via HDMI, you still can try this solution:
- Ensure there is no HDMI cable connected
- Uninstall the Intel High Definition Audio HDMI
- Select to remove the driver
- Click on the action menu
- Rescan for new hardware
If you have Vista running it will install a different driver that supports only stereo but it will be available in your sound dialog. The final solution is running process explorer from Microsoft you can gethere.

The HDMI sound output on the Dell 1525 comes from the graphics driver.
Download the latest drivers for the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family on the intel website. Install and the HDMI output option will be available for selection in the sounds options menu.
