How To Install Windows XP on HP Compaq CQ40-115AU
Short description about HP Compaq CQ40-115AU, 2.0Ghz of AMD Turion X2 RM-70, 160GB of harddrive, 1Gb of memory RAM, ATi HD3200 Graphics card video, WiFi, Webcam, DVd Writer super multi, 14.1 inch WXGA with FreeDOS.
If you want to install Microsoft Windows Xp to this machine, follow this simpe step.
a. for AMD SATA AHCI Controller Driver here, or you can download it from Gigabyte Official Site here. for another suggestion you may download RAID7xx from sp39719 here
b. Download and install .Net Framework from here
c. Install ATI Radeon HD3200 Video Graphics Driver here
d. Install Microsoft UAA from here
e. Install IDT High-Definition CODEC Audio Driver here => Update your Audio Device on High Definition Bus through Device Manager.
f. Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC here
g. ALPS Touchpad Driver here
h. For Modem, Card Reader or Quick Launch you can use your Microsoft Windows Vista Driver or can be downloaded here

As far as I know you’ll need to slipstream the SATA driver into the XP boot disk through nLite or something similar… Otherwise you’ll probably get BSOD when trying to install XP because the computer won’t be able to properly access the disks

I’ve downloaded the sata driver but after slipstream it to xp installation disc the ahci6×64.sys driver showed as corrupted. pls give respond a.s.a.p. tq in advanced.

Use nLite the only thing that work to slipstream sata driver onto xp disk…

Make sure you’re not mixing x86 and x64 driver…(x64 for 64bit & x86 for 32bit)
(usually you guys use x86 so choose only x86 driver only)
Then, finish the slipstreaming and burn it. Boot up the disk and see if its work…

I have Microsoft UAA Bus Driver, IDT Audio driver, and DirectX 9.0c, and dotnetfx 2

the touchpad driver from your link here is kinda helpful for me at first. coz ealier my touchpad “up-down” was not functioning. now, it’s working. the new problem is i can’t click on the touchpad to pass through any link or files using my finger at the touchpad…

Does anyone really installed xp in this laptop CQ40-107AU.
I tried slipsteaming XP but still displays black, cannot continue. Or if continues it displays blue screen with error message.
Done adding sata driver into xp installation cd using nlite but it wont work.

i have compaq cq40 144tu, i am unable to install sound drivers in win xp,
i tried everything , Microsoft UAA bus, INF, and whatever else i found on each and every website.
When i try to install sp26792, it says u dont have microsoft uaa bus,
when i try to manually locate the file from device manager, i cant found the .inf file which is required and present in this folder – SWSETUP
Please help me, let me know all the drivers which my system require, and how to get them.. and finally detailed procedure, how to install them..

The best ways is try use pendrive with floppy drive or external floppy drive into your usb port, insert XP cd into the drive, when its come for you to type any key during boot for cd, just wait until a command ask you to choose the SATA Raid.

hey guys, to get XP on without gettin the darned BSOD just go into your bios, and change the SATA AHCI to IDE. save settings and reboot. since the OS the manufacturer installs is by default Vista, they make use of turning on the SATA support out of the box. Just turn it off. Install your OS *in my case I put xp pro 64, and THEN install your SATA driver from HP’s website. once installed, reboot, go back into your bios, and RE ENABLE your SATA AHCI. save the settings, and reboot once more.
and then pray your OS boots.
IF it doesn’t and your back to BSOD hell again, try booting to safe moe, remove the SATA driver, reboot. back into the bios and set the SATA AHCI back to standard IDE, and just live with the pain.
Yes, SATA is faster–and using that driver can make one of those lil yellow marks in the Device amnager go away—BUT not all machines can make use of it. *like mine. I have to live with old IDE interface. but hey, I’m willin to sacrifice that much to avoid bloatfish…erm…Vista

Those who are saying that after putting the CD and it’s black screen has no problems. You just need to wait couple of minutes before it initializes the SATA driver.
