How To Install Windows XP into Compaq CQ40-133TU
Actually Compaq doesn’t support Microsoft Windows XP to this model, XP only support for another Compaq Business Laptop. If you really want to setup Windows Xp to this laptop model, maybe all of function don’t works 100%. Actually, if you’ve Windows XP Service Pack 2, most of drivers below don’t need anymore.
short description about Compaq Presario CQ40-133TU: 2.0 GHz of Intel Celeron 575, 1GB of DDR2 RAM that can be upgraded to 8GB, 160GB of SATA hard drive, Super Multi DVD, 5-in-1 media card reader, modem, wireless LAN 802.11 b/g, bluetooth, 14.1-inch Diagonal WXGA high-definition Widescreen display that support for 1280 by 800 pixel resolution.
For ICH9 AHCI controller you may get it here, You have to sleapstream ICH9 sata driver into Windows XP using NLiteOS. if you need short tutorial, get it here.
You should restart your laptop, and setup below drivers:
a.Intel Chipset here
b. Intel 4 Series Express here
c. Microsoft UAA here
d. IDT High Definition Audio Codec here
e. High Definition Audio Modem Installer here
f. Windows 3.1 (install it before installing Wireless driver) here
g. Intel PRO wireless drivers here
h. Broadcom Wireless LAN driver here
i. Realtek Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet here
j. JMB8X Card Reader here
k. CIR ENE Receiver,Vista driver here
l. HP Quick Launch Button here
m. For another driver here

i use XP SP2 success installed with Intel chipset, wifi, modem, card reader,Graphics,
but only the IDT codec can not be completed cause code error 10. i do install the MS UAA K888111 latest one, but after restart, still the same, any solution for this audio?
i don’t want to give up seen this is the last driver to complete ^^

thats mean you haven install the Microsoft UAA ^^, try to install only you can install the audio driver.

I am having the same issue here. Could anybody please let me know as to exactly how to proceed ahead. Like do I have to integrate all the drivers mentioned here in the WinXP installation cd? Or will the blue screen just pass after I integrate the SATA driver? And then I can install all the other drivers after XP is installed? I am new to these things, kindly help.

Well sorry for not stating the issue in the above post. My issue is that I am not able to install XP on CQ 40 133TU. It just throws a blue screen in the process of copying the setup files.

Download MS UAA from this location:
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe
Download audio driver from here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34200.exe
Start -> run -> Type “devmgmt.msc” ->right click on Audio device… -> update driver -> have disk -> locate wis30b2a.inf (extracted from driver file) and audio driver will be installed

i just bought a new Compaq CQ40-124TU with only FreeDOS installed. i try to install windows XP with SP3. but it throws me a blue screen when it starts to copy file to harddrive. can anyone kindly tell me what i should do. stupidly i tried to get rid of the freedos by FDisk. now i end up a new laptop without any operating system. Prob 1.”Error:…device blah blah blah…”
just go to the device manager…..check under system device if u see microsoft UAA….double click to see if its wrking properly…..regardless of that uninstall it n reinstall using the link given above(compaq site)……this should solve it.
Prob 2. How to install
here r the steps…..n ull need a wrking comp for them
1. download nLite
2. copy all the contents of the XP CD to the HDD in a folder
3. do a google on “intel SATA drivers”
4. download these n intigrate to the win XP setup using nLite
5. Burn the CD install n enjoy
u’ll probably get much better instructions to the above problem if u search “slipstreaming SATA drivers in Windows XP” on google…a forum thread has very detailed info with illustrations
