To install Audio for windows xp for presario cq40 series, please do this step:
1. download bios ver. f.11c
2. update bios
3. restart
4. install driver audio.
i test this step no problem.

hello safi, if you need install xp to CQ40-101TU and want to pass sata raid driver, turn it off from BIOS menu.

it’s absolutly right, unhappily there is no setting menu to turn off sata raid driver in BIOS (i got the same case like it …..)

hello, admin.. i treid in bois and f2 method also… but its not hapening.. their is no option to turn off the sata raid driver in bois,…any other way is their for installing windows xp in to CQ40 laptop

just found out, setup windows xp to compaq cq40-101tu need to download from intel sata raid for floppy, unzip and copy to floppy, boot cd and press f6. select “ahci 9″ or something similar and press enter. it will boot windows setup. go to low-yat forum for more info.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ40-116TU and want to install WinXP Pro. Always got a blue screen at the end. I have a some dificulties to fine the right sata driver for it and have try to use floppy disk too. I always failed to make WinLite using nLite. I think I need iso to make it easier. Could anyone help me? Thanks.

hi,i own a cq40125 with xp.i alway got the sound driver problem.always got pop up say i have bad sound driver.i have installed the UUA and IDT but its the same.now my laptop can’t even boot windows.im thinking of upgrade to vista.is installing vista have to disable the sata raid driver same as xp?

flash the bios to get the sata native support option in ur bios & DISABLE THAT then u will be able to install xp in all the cq 40 series laptops , us nlite method software to flash bios.

I’ve bought Compaq CQ45-107AU wif AMD Chipset installed wif free DOS. Same problem wif u guys, cant install windows XP. Blue screen came out after a few hours waiting. I’ve surf the net and found out that i need to include sata RAID drive into windows XP installation CD… shud i say… costumize windows XP CD. But the instruction is for Intel Chipset. i’m using AMD 780 Chipset. anybody can help me where to find AMD sata raid driver?

Now there is no requirement for flashing the Bios on CQ40 series laptops. Solutions is right here with me and few technical guys too…
So stop thinking abt Flashing bios to F.11C and so on…Need solution then do reply me ….

I am also have a same problem guys,I that the solution for installing xp we want the raid tool for seperate x86 based intel or amd processors based laptops.and make a boot floppy with help of usb floppy drive.if the setup loading files press f6 to install a third party raid controller.that time we can install easily xp in the laptop.try guys……..
but where the raid controller to download.i dont know the website…

You are not able to install the XP because –
1. The new generation laptops having new sata controllers.
2. At the time of installation, OS searches for hard disk, but due to new sata controllers, he is not able to mount your harddisk. (Vista and Ubuntu 8.10, supports new sata controller)
Solution –
You have to provide driver for new sata controller at the time of installation of XP.
Software NLITE will help you. Using NLITE you can burn an installation disk of your XP + new sata controller driver. Try to google more for NLITE.
But see your laptop manufacturer are providing other hardware driver support for XP, as that might the next thread from your side.

TO ALL WITH PROBLEM INSTALLING XP ON PRESARIO CQ40 SERIES…
Tell me I’m your angel…
I’ll give you a most comprehensive procedure on the “How to”
install WIN XP in CQ40 series of HP Presario.
Since this models come with SATA HDD which most XP
installers basically cannot detect, slipstreaming becomes
the immediate resource of us (frustrated to vista)…
Here’s how I did it to my CQ40-303AU which I gues will also work
in yours…
1. Copy your XP CD Content to your local drive…
2. Install nlite (downloadable free)
3. Download SATA Driver which in this case is given the link above.
4. Open Nlite, no activity is required in the presets, go directly to “Task Selection” and click “Drivers” straight to the ‘integrate’ tab and “Bootable ISO” straight to ‘create’ tab.
5. Insert a single driver. Here’s the cue, insert only the .inf of X86 SATA driver, DO NOT INCLUDE THE X64 since this will cause your XP installer to stop during installation.
6. Finish the modification and DO NOT FORGET to create .ISO image file if you are working on a pc without an optical device (CD-R or CD-RW and so on). If you have these device/s, you can directly burn the modified XP installer.
7. Install using the modified XP Installer.
Works fine for me, I am now using XP on my CQ40-303AU…

Well I have a same problem with this matter, XP cannot install on Compaq CQ40 coz must have a floppy drive it’s crazy at the moment we are still need a FLOPPY hahaha what the going on …… perhaps some day pentium I or 486DX still have a purpose

Windows XP installation problem in Compaq Presario CQ40
Step 1:– Enabling Audio:
You need to flash the BIOS to F.11C as given below :
**Copy the all the files from BIOS folder to a DOS bootable Thumb drive
**Boot the notebook via dos bootable thumb drive (press F9 to select Flash drive boot)
**At the DOS command prompt , i.e, C:\ type Flash.bat and shutdown the notebook after completing the BIOS flashing. (this may take 25 to 30 seconds)
Step 2:– Installing O.S :
Suggested : WinXP SP3 Bootable Disc with ACHI driver ready O.S image (can be done using nlite)
Note :– u needn’t have any Floppy drive under this process
Step 3:– Installing Drivers : (Install from the Drivers DVD – already given)
The above 3steps completes the Entire Installation process.
