Atheros AR5007 (and every atheros driver i guess) for vista works in XP also.. i just got every thing working over here so now im going to enjoy XP on my compaq presario cq50-100eo laptop

BUILT IN MICROPHONE WONT WORK.

thats the last thing which doesnt work. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS

I just bought a Compaq CQ50-104AU yesterday.
So far, I managed to download and install all drivers, except the VGA and Modem.

For the wireless, use this driver …
Broadcom Wireless: http://tinyurl.com/58ws5s

For sound, use this …
Conexant SmartAudio 221: http://www.mediafire.com/?dg0cmmkm4y4

Unzip to a folder…use Device Manager.
From Device Manager,right click “Audio Device on HD”,choose Update driver,
No to connect,
Install from a list or specific location,
Select Don’t Search, I will choose the driver to install,
For the Hardware Type select ‘Show All Devices’
Remove the check from “Show Compatible Hardware” and click on “Have Disk”.
Next…browse to the unzipped folder and choose the “WiSVHe5.inf”.
Ignore XP when it complains.
Reboot.

I’m goin to try installing the following graphics:

I’ve installed XP Pro successfully but i got my windows xp is move slowly when i open the folder, at welcome startup, but when i using windows vista , there no problem occurs.
plz.. help me

installing Linux on Compaq-104AU is really simple, I’ve suceed install Ubuntu 8.04 and please make it sure that when you’re using DVD external, go to bios setting and change BOOt to HDD/USB CDROM.

Went to compaq site and the only driver available for atheros ar5007 is for vista. So if someone could tweak around the .inf file for it to work in xp, it would be great

The broadcom wireless driver won’t work just because it uses different wireless adapter which is Atheros AR5007. I’d been searching for the said driver for WinXP for weeks now, but to no avail. So, ’til someone create the driver for XP we’re getting nowhere.
