Fixing DSOUND.DLL Error When Running Skype on ASUS EEE PC
Installing nLite version of XP SP3 on Asus Eee PC one can’t get
DirectX working on their PC. When running Skype he’s get the error
message that said “cannot run DLL (DSOUND.DLL)“. He’s then leaves
DirectX in the nLite setup but removed the diagnostics. And also
trying to install DirectX from the Asus Eee PC only get an error and
it fails. The error in the logs is to do with Get DX Version and a
failed API RegQueryValueEx.
The first thing you should do to resolve the DirectX problem on Asus
Eee PC is you need to sure, did you get this issue fixed as you have
left the DirectX to install yet, so you’ve get the same dsound.dll
error. If you won’t, then try copying dsound.dll from another computer
which has Windows XP installed with has the same service pack level.
And then simply place it in c:\windows\system32 and
c:\windows\system32\dllcache on your Asus Eee PC. After restart your
Eee PC you should see the DirectX is running well.
