Flashing BIOS into Acer Aspire One Easily

Acer Aspire One has recovery routine of built-in BIOS. This laptop’s
BIOS system makes it possible to flash the BIOS even if the system
doesn’t boot anymore. If you want to do the flash BIOS you need to
bear attention that it’s only meant for emergencies and may void your
Acer Aspire One warranty, so use at your own risk.

If you understand the risk of flash BIOS, here are the following:

- You need USB stick here, so get it one if you haven’t and format it with FAT
- Download the latest BIOS through the link located below of the post,
and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of
the USB stick.
- It’s important to rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD. Do not remove
the USB stick.
- Turn the Acer Aspire One off and make sure both battery and AC
adapter are connected.
- Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the
Acer Aspire One on.
Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, here you should see the power
button will be blinking.
- Press the power button once. The Acer Aspire One will now initiate
the BIOS flash, make sure you don’t interrupt it under any
circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and
the Acer Aspire One will reboot shortly after.
- The Acer Aspire One BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.

Notes:
In case you make a mistake during the Flash Bios procedure and the
Acer Aspire One machine doesn’t reboot by itself, you need to wait at
least 5 minutes before turning it off. This is useful and to be safe
that it isn’t still flashing the BIOS.

My Acer Aspire 5050-3785 went down last week. The battery fully charged. I formatted USB with FAT. Downloaded latest BIOS and followed the instructions. It did not work, the screen still blank, and the AC LED power button was not blinking.
    Any assistance appreciated..

My Acer Aspire 5735 has a blank screen (after ACER splash), no keyboard & no sound. The battery charges OK and computer runs on mains and/or battery. I can use it with external monitor and on-screen keyboard (painful). Under ACER ePower Management it reports ‘No battery detected’ even while it is running only on battery!
I formatted USB memory stick as instructed by ACER support with BIOS update (Flashit). Instructions and the “Aspire_fix.exe” program downloaded from: http://helpdesk.acer.com.au/aspire . The power button did not blink, it did not reboot and F12 on boot did not work. Eventually (via ACER eSettings Management) selected boot from USB Hard Drive, booted from the memory stick and ran UPDATE at DOS prompt – response was’not a recognized command’. This is starting to drive me NUTS!!! Help please.

“After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the Acer Aspire One will reboot shortly after.”
