Aspire One ZG5: How To Boot Using External CD Drive
While trying to install Win XP on Acer Aspire One ZG5, the Netbook won’t boot with the external USB CD Drive and the Factory CD. There is only one partition of 8GB that able to detect. And also, the machine cannot start with any other boot CD or XP with OEM version without getting BSOD.
In the case of Aspire One ZG5 only detects one partition of 8GB in size, the hotkey
Setting up to use BartPE from USB is rather longwinded, but it is a very useful tool to use. This tool comes pre-installed with some useful tools for troubleshooting and also capable to delete or re-partition drive. What you need to do is only wipe both partitions and used the full drive.
Now your Acer Aspire One ZG5 Netbook should available to boot with the external USB. After successful boot from USB, you can then copy the contents of Win XP CD to a folder on USB and following the steps to reinstall XP as usual.
